Emmerdale's Samantha Giles has apologised to Gemma Collins after she was quoted as calling her 'talentless' and 'revolting'.

The actor — who is best known for playing Bernice Blackstock in the ITV soap — apparently made the remarks at the MEN Pride of Manchester Awards this week, joking that she might 'punch' the GC if she came across her in person.

However, she has now posted a message on social media saying sorry and setting the record straight.

“Hi everyone I'm aware that comments I made on a press red carpet have been taken out of the context I meant them, so I'd like to apologise to @missgemcollins for my misjudged jokes which I honestly didn't mean,” she said on Twitter.

“I hope this apology is acceptable.”

“Hands held up from me,” she added.

Collins saw the tweet and responded: "I am sending you love though because people like you need it the most."

She also said she'd love to hear the recording of the conversation "as I can’t see anything funny in it".

The Daily Star had quoted Giles as saying: “All these reality stars, I haven’t got a clue who they are.

“That Gemma Collins, I think I’d punch her if I ever came across her. I don’t know - how can someone so talentless and revolting have made so much money?”

“I wouldn’t mind if she’d give it away and did something good with it, but all she seems to do is put more s*** on her face and do her nails,” she said.
