Yahoo News Emmerdale star Jack Downham unsure if Noah Dingle can be redeemed

Emmerdale star Jack Downham has spoken out about whether his character Noah Dingle can be redeemed from his disturbing behaviour.
Over the past few months, viewers have watched Noah develop a creepy and obsessive attitude towards women, which will come to a head in episodes airing next week when when his mother Charity (Emma Atkins) discovers that her son has been stalking his ex-girlfriend Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland).
While talking to Digital Spy and other media recently, Downham was asked whether he thought there was any chance for Noah to come back from this behaviour.

"Right now, I don't think there's any way back unless he gets serious help and has a serious few conversations with people about his mindset, about the way you think about women, and the way you should act around women," he replied.
The actor went on remind us that he is, however, nothing like the character he portrays, since the public sometimes forget to separate the two.
"Well, you do get the odd little interaction in public where people think that you might be like your character in real life – but I promise I'm not!" he said.
Downham also explained that Noah's attitude towards women isn't too surprising since he has the "background" and "motives" for it, referring to his upbringing and the way that watching his mother's past relationships have had a negative effect on his view of women.
"It's been good, especially because Noah has the background for it, and he has the motives for it. You can see why these things have happened to him and why he's got these wrong thoughts," he said.
Elland has has also told Digital Spy that she is pleased to see the soap tackling the issue of misogyny, saying: "It's such a relevant conversation, especially in this day and age, and I think it's really great that stories like that are being taken on."
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
