Emmys 2019: Phoebe Waller-Bridge wins Best Actress for Fleabag

Phoebe Waller-Bridge had a big night at this year’s Emmys.

The British star won the award for both Best Actress in a Comedy Series, beating The Marvellous Mrs Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan.

Earlier in the evening, Waller-Bridge had won Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series for Fleabag. Taking to the stage, she looked over at the trophy, exclaiming: “Look at her!”

“It’s sickening how much we all love each other,” she said, discussing her Fleabag co-stars, including Sian Clifford and Andrew Scott.

Elsewhere, Bill Hader took home Best Actor in a Comedy Series for Barry, while Marvellous Mrs Maisel stars Alex Borstein and Tony Shalhoub won in the supporting categories.

Game of Thrones is the evening’s most nominated show.
