Exclusive: Neighbours star April Rose Pengilly says Chloe and Nicolette scenes were changed

Neighbours spoilers follow.

Neighbours star April Rose Pengilly has revealed that Chloe Brennan and Nicolette Stone's romantic scenes this week had to be changed.

A new storyline has seen Chloe and Nicolette (Charlotte Chimes) consider whether to become a couple again after rebuilding their friendship.

The pair attended an event in the city together and, with sparks flying between them once more, they later shared a kiss.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy about the story, April explained: "They were meant to go to the city and it was three scenes of them reconnecting.

"Then we couldn't film on-location in the city, so it was condensed to one scene just in the studio.

"We still saw them connect a little bit after enjoying the concert together. It helped to break down the barriers a little bit, because Nicolette was still quite guarded and defensive.

"Chloe has been really keen to repair things and show that she wants to be there for Nicolette. She hasn't wanted to be too pushy, though, because she understands that Nicolette needs time."

On the two characters' recent kiss, April continued: "Charlotte and I were quite disappointed that the kiss wasn't scripted to occur in the city, because it would have looked really beautiful, but we understood why.

"It was sort of underplayed. It was about their connection and their intimacy together, as it happened in the Tanaka house."

In Thursday's episode on Channel 5 (December 2), Chloe and Nicolette take a walk together to discuss their future.

While Chloe is optimistic, she's in for a shock when Nicolette reveals what she wants.

April told us: "Nicolette says that the kiss was nice, but it didn't mean more for her. She doesn't think they can be together.

"Chloe is really shocked and heartbroken, because she was led to believe this physical gesture meant they were back on again, but Nicolette says that is not the case."

Neighbours currently airs weekdays at 1pm and 6pm on Channel 5 (UK) and Mondays to Thursdays at 6.30pm on 10 Peach (Australia).
