Harry Potter fans have expressed their excitement as the first poster from the 20th anniversary reunion has been revealed.

The poster features Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson in Hogwarts’ Great Hall. The three are surrounded by other fan favourites from the cast who will also be featuring in the special.

The much-anticipated reunion was announced in November and is set to be a nostalgic celebration of the franchise two decades after the release of the first film.

On top of two teaser trailers, last week fans got a first look at the Harry Potter reunion through an image of Radcliffe, Grint, and Watson on set. The programme was filmed at Warner Bros Studio Tour in Watford.

“Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts” will also feature other talent from the movies, including Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Tom Felton, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Matthew Lewis and Evanna Lynch.

They will share new insight into how the series was made.

The reunion announcement made no mention of Harry Potter author JK Rowling, who has come under fire for her transgender views.

Sharing more details on exactly what to expect from the anniversary episode, HBO announced, "The retrospective special ‘Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts’ will tell an enchanting making-of story through all-new in-depth interviews and cast conversations, inviting fans on a magical first-person journey through one of the most beloved film franchises of all time."

The special is set to air on New Year’s Day on HBO Max.
