Fear the Walking Dead's fifth season continued to offer hints about the true nature of the helicopter group which took Rick Grimes.

Althea, played by Maggie Grace, was kidnapped in the season premiere after inspecting the dead soldier carrying the three rings symbol. And the most recent episode finally centred on what happened to her after being taken.

Al met helicopter group member Isabelle (Sydney Lemmon), and, over the course of the episode, viewers learn a little more about the group's motivations.

The group is fiercely secretive, killing anyone that they feel jeopardises or exposes their overall mission. Their vision is to create a better world for the future, and Isabelle's assignment was to gather resources for water purification.

At the end of the episode, Isabelle spares Al after a change of heart. They kiss before they part ways. Isabelle then refuels the helicopter and flies away.

"It's fun that they're building in Easter eggs for the ride-or-die fans," Maggie Grace, who plays Althea, told TV Insider. "And I have always known that there would be some way Al would connect to this wider world.

"It's been exciting... Al has to, moment by moment, gauge the nature of this organisation, which certainly doesn't seem to be one of benevolence – perhaps 'brutality' would be more accurate – but also represents great hope.

"I think Al's thinking they perhaps have the greater answer, in terms of how the species survives and continues."

It's unclear whether or not Al and Isabelle will meet again, but there's also a distinct possibility that Isabelle might pop up in the Rick movie spin-off.

Fear the Walking Dead season 5 airs on AMC in the US and on AMC on BT TV in the UK.
