The Flash is giving one of the most powerful people in Central City a promotion for season five.

For the past five years, Central City's telepathic district attorney Cecile Horton (Danielle Nicolet) has been steadfast in locking up the Rogues and other metahuman criminals who've used their powers to hold the population hostage.

Cecile has got pretty close to Barry's (Grant Gustin) father-in-law Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) too, and they've recently had a baby daughter together. Actress Danielle Nicolet has done all of this while only being a recurring guest star!

All that changes in season five because Deadline is reporting that Nicolet is being promoted to the main cast of The Flash for the CW show's upcoming season.

Prior to her time on the DC Comics series, Nicolet was a regular on '90s comedy 3rd Rock from the Sun, recurred on sitcom The Game and recently starred in the film Tyler Perry's Acrimony.

It was also recently announced that The Flash's fifth season will introduce yet another alternate version of Tom Cavanagh's Harrison Wells, who producers have teased as the most "unique" incarnation yet.

"We started talking about next season and a new character. I think we landed on one that's pretty funny and unique, and I think it will give Tom a lot of meat to chew on," showrunner Todd Helbing teased.

The Flash airs on The CW in the US and on Sky One in the UK.
