Former Coronation Street star Christopher Quinten has broken his silence on his engagement to new fiancée Robyn Delabarre, who is 40 years his junior.

The Brian Tilsley actor recently proposed to his 21-year-old girlfriend, and the pair spoke about their relationship on today's (June 12) This Morning.

Chris revealed that they met at a London strip club where they both worked, though rules meant that colleagues could not date and that they had to lie about their secret relationship for a number of months.

Robyn also revealed that her family were initially shocked by the revelation they were dating, saying: "The family found it really difficult at first but now they're so supportive of me. Just the big age gap is a big thing. My mum is 38 and my dad's 40."

Chris joked: "I could be your granddad! I've spoken to the mum and they all love me thankfully. I haven't spoken to dad yet."

Opening up about his proposal during Robyn's 21st birthday, Chris recalled: "Robyn kept saying I want a stripper. I reluctantly tried to book a stripper, but luckily I said to the lady who's organising the party, 'Can we have a stripper?'

"They said no, so I made a joke that we wanted a stripper, we couldn't get one so I'm going to do it. So everybody thought I was doing a strip, and that's when I said put the music down and popped the question."

However, later on in the interview, Phillip Schofield expressed concern about the risky practicalities of potential children having an older dad, though Robyn said it wasn't an issue for them.

"I do think about this, but I just kind of put that aside. I want children with him, when I'm ready, obviously," she explained.

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10.30am.
