Frankie Muniz says dream is coming true as he becomes NASCAR race car driver

The TV star said he wants to show his son that you can always chase your dreams

Malcolm In The Middle star Frankie Muniz is becoming a full-time racing car driver.

The actor - who played child prodigy Malcolm in the hit family sitcom - will be racing in NASCAR's ARCA Menards Series championship.

Announcing his big move on Twitter, Muniz shared a string of video clips showing him racing and talking about his love of the sport.

"Finally making my dream a reality, this one is for my son and showing him that you can always chase your dreams," he wrote.

"Excited for this opportunity with Rette Jones Racing, Ford, and our partners to go full time racing for an ARCA National Series Championship in 2023."

The actor, 37, said in a statement that he was joining Rette Jones Racing for the full ARCA Menards Series schedule "with the utmost excitement, optimism and gratitude".

"Ever since childhood, it's been my dream to pursue racing in NASCAR, and it was important for me to partner with a team that aligned with my long-term objectives and vision, while providing every opportunity imaginable to grow mentally and physically as a full-time race car driver," he said.

Muniz - who welcomed son Mauz with wife Paige in 2021 - has been in the public eye for more than 20 years thanks to TV shows like Malcolm In The Middle and Moville Mysteries and films such as Agent Cody Banks.

He has also been involved in racing for several years.

After he announced his new adventure, fans said they were thrilled that he was pursuing his dream.

"You've got this!" tweeted one.
