Good Girls fans were devastated when it was announced that it had been cancelled following its fourth season, something that seemed to come as a surprise to most people involved.

A year on, one of the show's stars has hinted that the lack of a renewal was down to one person.

Appearing on Live with Kelly and Ryan, actress Retta admitted she was still "salty" over the axe, and alleged: "One person ruined it for all of cast and crew, and so it’s not back.

"I think it was a little too close to when [the writers] would have to start [season 5 scripts] and figure out story [to write that person out]."

This follows a report from TVLine last year that claims actor Mae Whitman, Retta and Christina Hendricks all agreed to a pay cut in order to return for a shorter final season, but Manny Montana — who the publication also alleges did not get on with Hendricks — did not.

He offered no comment to TVLine when contacted both last year and this week, while it's important to note that Retta does not mention any names or professions related to that 'one person' at all in her interview.

When the cancellation was announced last year, Hendricks wrote: "Well, we gave it our all. We really did. Thank you to our amazing fans through the years for all your passion and support."

"Feel too sad and confused to look at my phone but just a little look back at some of the best times with my girls," Whitman added.

"Love my pals on this cast so much and love YOU guys who loved the show. It was such a joy being Annie and I'm forever grateful to you for supporting us. [Ok, I'll] go cry now, love you."

Good Girls is available to watch in its entirety on Netflix.
