Gotham co-stars Morena Baccarin and Ben McKenzie have announced the happy news that they have welcomed their second child together.

The real-life couple met on the set of Gotham, in which they played Leslie 'Lee' Thompkins and James Gordon respectively throughout the crime drama's five season run.

The pair welcomed daughter Frances Laiz in March 2016 and married in June 2017, before announcing that they were expecting a second baby in December last year. Baccarin also has a 7-year-old son with her ex-husband, director Austin Chick.

Sharing the news of her new son's birth, Baccarin posted a close-up photo of the baby on Instagram and also revealed his name, writing: "2021 is looking up. Welcome to the world Arthur. Trust us, you haven't missed much yet."

McKenzie shared the same photo on his own Instagram account, writing: "Welcome to the world, Arthur. Gotta say, your timing is impeccable."

The couple's happy news has been welcomed by a number of their famous friends, including Baccarin's Deadpool co-star Ryan Reynolds who commented on her post with three heart emojis.

Gotham star Sean Pertwee, who played Alfred Pennyworth in the show, also sent his love, writing: "Welcome big fella, squeeze your parents for me".

Last year Baccarin defended her smaller role in Deadpool 2, in which she reprised her role as Wade Wilson's fiancée Vanessa Carlysle.

"I certainly was disappointed that I didn't have more to do, because I just loved the part so much," she said. "But in watching the film and reading the script, it felt like such an emotionally pivotal role in the film and the entire arc of his character in the film is set into motion because of what happens to my character.

"It felt that I was very involved in the movie even though I didn't have a lot of scenes."
