Grammy 2020 nominations see Lizzo lead female-dominated shortlist

As awards season draws closer once again, nominations for the 2020 Grammy Awards have been announced.

The shortlist, revealed on Wednesday, is dominated by female stars including Lizzo, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift.

Alicia Keys, who will host the ceremony in January, assisted in announcing the shortlist - which also includes Michelle Obama.

The coveted Album of the Year category includes Billie Eilish and Ariana Grande.

The former First Lady has received her nod in the Spoken Word category, for the audiobook of her best-selling memoir Becoming.

Scottish star Lewis Capaldi has also been nominated, with Someone You Loved up for Song of the Year.
