Grammy nominations 2020: When is the announcement and how can I watch live?

The 2020 Grammy nominations are being announced today (20 November).

The nominees for the 62nd Grammy Awards will be revealed by 15-time Grammy-winning artist Alicia Keys, Recording Academy president Deborah Dugan, and Chair of the Board of Trustees Harvey Mason Jr.

Keys will return as host for next year's ceremony.

How can I watch the announcement live?

The nominations announcement will begin at approximately 8.20am ET (1.20pm in the UK) at Studio 43 at the CBS Broadcast Center in New York.

The press conference will be streamed live on Grammy.com and across the Academy's Facebook and Twitter pages.

Following the simulcast, the full list of nominees for the 84 categories will be revealed. You can follow the news on The Independent's website and across its social media channels.

Who's going to get nominated?

Contenders for Album of the Year could include Taylor Swift with her seventh record Lover, along with Lizzo's Cuz I Love You, Billie Eilish's When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, Tyler, the Creator's Igor, Ariana Grande's Thank U, Next, Bruce Springsteen's Western Stars, Lana Del Rey's Norman F***ing Rockwell!, and Rosalia's El Mal Querer.

Eilish could sweep all four categories if she gets nominated for Best New Artist, Record of the Year and Song of the Year, as could Lizzo. Lil Nas X also seems like a dead cert for the nominations, following the unprecedented success of "Old Town Road".

Other possible nominees for Best New Artist include Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi, whose hit "Someone You Loved" just secured its third consecutive week at the top of the Billboard singles chart in the US. Maggie Rogers, Lil Nas X, Summer Walker, MeganTheeStallion and Rosalia also seem very likely.

2020 will continue with this year's introduction of eight places, rather than five, for the top awards categories.
