Gut-buster - the breakfast that's so big it's served on a TWO FOOT platter

It has 43 portions of 12 different fry-up favourites, adds up to 4,000 calories and is served on a silver platter two FEET wide.

The gut-busting breakfast costs £13.95 but is free to anyone who can polish it off within an hour – a feat only one person in 60 has managed in the four months it has been on offer.

The mammoth meal, served up at Treats Cafe in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, includes four slices of toast, four pieces of fried bread, six rashers of bacon, six sausages, six eggs and six hash browns.

Dubbed The Big Breakfast Challenge, it’s also got four piece of black pudding, two portions of bubble and squeak, two large spoonfuls of sauteed mushrooms, two dollops of baked beans, two of tinned tomatoes and two fresh tomatoes. Oh, and a mug of tea or coffee.

At around 4,000 calories, it’s twice the recommended daily allowance for a woman and 1,500 more than the average man needs.

Ricky Bodalia, manager at Treats, said they added the breakfast challenge to their menu because they thought it would be “good fun”.

The 28-year-old said: “When someone does the challenge the whole cafe turns to watch them.”

But despite 60 people taking on the challenge so far, the only person to polish off the breakfast was James ‘Terminator’ Cox, who devoured it in 36 minutes and 21 seconds in November.

And while the only person to complete the challenge so far is a man, women do generally better, says Ricky.

“The girls seem to have more willpower,” he added. “60% of them have done better than the boys.”
