Holby City star Dawn Steele has opened up about the lack of social distancing between her character Ange Godard and Josh Hudson.

Last night's (June 8) episode saw Ange end the pair's relationship after Henrik Hanssen (Guy Henry) learned about the illicit affair, and Ange and Josh's (Trieve Blackwood-Cambridge) final scenes showed them get rather close.

However, Dawn has addressed viewer concern over filming the scenes amid social distancing measures, reassuring fans that she and Trieve were tested and isolated beforehand.

"So in tonight's episode of @bbcholbycity you may have noticed Ange and Josh a bit closer than 2m," she began an Instagram post. "Trieve and myself both were tested then isolated in a hotel for a whole week to film the last 2 episodes.

"It was so lovely as an actor, to actually get to 'act' again properly. We have been 2m distancing since last July, talking to tennis balls and crosses- everyone in the team working so hard to make it look good.

"BUT to actually be near a fellow actor, be natural and look into their eyes was just amazing. I've missed it so much."

Addressing a picture she posted of them hugging behind the scenes, Dawn added: "The last picture was our final hug in our bubble before we had to go back to 2m thanks to @trieve_bc for making it all so easy and @chanwoo_lim_iam for capturing the moment #holbycity #holby."

Last week, it was confirmed that Holby City will be coming to an end in 2022 after more than two decades on air, though in response fans have started a petition to save the soap.

Holby City will be airing in its usual Tuesday night slot at 7.50pm on BBC One until 2022.
