Yahoo News 'Holby City' stars share their devastation as show is axed
Holby City's stars have been paying their respects to the medical drama as it was axed after 23 years on air.
The BBC One Casualty spin-off aired its final ever episode on Tuesday night and the actors who had starred in it were just as devastated as its loyal viewers to say goodbye.

A final storyline featured the death of Jac Naylor, who had been suffering from a brain tumour, and Rosie Marcel who played her posted on Instagram thanking her "incredibly supportive and loving" castmates before sharing a photo of Jac after her death and writing "Goodnight all."
Chizzy Akudolu, who had played Mo Effanga for 10 years, tweeted: "This is actually breaking my heart. Holby meant so much to so many people, including me. I’m in bits. Didn’t think it would affect me like this…"
Former EastEnder Davood Ghadami had joined the cast more recently as Eli Ebrahimi and tweeted on Tuesday: "Tonight is the final @BBCHolbyCity ever. End of an era. I was just getting warm in the glow of the brilliant people who had been working on that show all those years. They are the best in the business. Goodbye Holby City and thank you

Long-running star David Ames, who played Dominic Copeland, wrote: "My heart is bursting with sadness, love and pride. Thank you to everyone who helped make this incredible show. Thank you adopting me into the family. I will forever be grateful. Thank you all for watching us. And thank you to our NHS. It’s been an absolute honour."
Patsy Kensit, who had previously starred in the show as Faye Morton, commented: "So sad Holby City ends tonight. I had an amazing four and a half years on the show and I loved it."
Another series alumni Lee Mead wrote: "About to watch the final ever episode. Goodbye @BBCHolbyCity and to all the incredible people I got to meet and work with. I was only there the three years as Lofty, but I had the best time. So many moments and memories to cherish. The end of an era."

Tina Hobley, who starred as Chrissie Williams for 12 years, tweeted an old cast photo of herself in nurse's uniform and captioned it: "Goodnight".
Holby's longest-running star Hugh Quarshie, who played Ric Griffin, retweeted a number of tributes from fans, as did Alex Walkinshaw who played Fletch.
One of his fans wrote: "forever grateful for holby city for giving me fletch, i really don’t know where i’d be without this character. he’s helped me in more ways than anyone could ever know, thank you @WalkinshawAlex," and he replied: "That goes the same for me."
The BBC announced that it would be axing Holby City last summer "in order to reshape the BBC’s drama slate to better reflect, represent and serve all parts of the country".
