Yahoo News Holby City's cast and crew pay tribute as filming wraps forever
Holby City filmed its final ever episode today (December 17), bringing to an end 23 years and over 1,000 episodes of medical drama.
Understandably, it's a very emotional affair for the cast and the crew, who have been sharing messages on social media reflecting on their time on the show and how sad they are that it's ending.

"Tough one today," wrote Eli actor Davood Ghadami. "Holby City is such a wonderful place to be and I am not ready to say goodbye. I will miss all the cast and crew who I feel like I have just started to get to know. I will miss playing Eli who is a gift of a character to play. Thank you to the Holby fans. I'm sorry this brilliant show has to end.
"Lastly, remember who is there for us from our first breath to our last - our beautiful NHS. Protect it with everything you have. Thank you."
Belinda Owusu, who plays Nancy, echoed Davood's statement, writing: "Whilst I pose adorably (right?) next to my radiator on what is the final day of filming at @bbcholbycity I cannot believe my luck. I love Holby City. I love my little Nicky. I love each and every one of you crazy talented lot I’ve been lucky enough to work with.
"My goodness I'll miss it all. Thank you Holby for having me. Biggest thank you to our wonderful audience for staying with us. #protectthenhs #holbycity."
In typical Jac style, actress Rosie Marcel kept her post shorter, saying: "Last day. I have loved playing Jac Naylor. I have loved being here for 16 years. Thank you everyone @bbcholbycity and thank you all the beautiful fans and friends of the show. Xxxxx."
Dom actor David Ames shared a photo of himself on set, writing: "Right. Let's do this. Final day here at @BBCHolbyCity. Emotions are running high but we have pretend lives to save."

Kaye Wragg, who played Essie between 2014 and 2020, sent David her love in the comments, and he replied with a cute photo of the duo on set together.

Former cast members also tweeted some touching messages, including Catherine Russell (Serena), Niamh McGrady (Mary-Claire), Kaisa Hammarlund (Inga), Louisa Clein (Kim) and Amy Forrest (Nicola).
Whether they were a regular role or a one-off character, it seems that everyone had a great time on Holby and will miss it dearly.
Holby City airs on Tuesdays on BBC One.
