Hollyoaks star Jeremy Edwards has announced that his wife is pregnant after undergoing IVF.

The actor, who recently reprised his role in the Channel 4 soap for his short-lived return as Kurt Benson, has announced that he and his wife Lydia Metz are expecting their second child after undergoing a second round of fertility treatment.

Lydia is due to give birth in March, with the couple – who married in 2009 – already sharing 3-year-old daughter Scarlett.

"We're incredibly excited, but the main feeling has been relief," Jeremy told OK!.

"Scarlett was conceived through IVF and so was this baby. We feel very blessed, as the process is actually really tough on Lyds."

Lydia added: "It's very stressful, but we feel so lucky that it worked both times for us on the first attempt.

"It's a lot to go through, especially if it doesn't work, so we're really excited and thankful that this happened.

"We found out in July and I'm due at the end of March. I'm just coming up to six months."

The happy announcement comes as Kurt Benson left Hollyoaks last week, having previously defended his unlikely return to the village for the show's 25th anniversary as "plausible".

He told Loose Women: "I never thought he'd died, I always thought he'd just gone missing."

Hollyoaks airs weekdays on Channel 4 and E4.
