Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter opens up about her engagement

Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter has revealed more details about her engagement to her new fiancé Ollie Piotrowski, opening up about his romantic proposal in December.

The couple got engaged while enjoying a weekend in Scotland together a few weeks before Christmas. Now, Jorgie, who plays Theresa McQueen on the soap, has told HELLO! that they're "on another level of love".

Revealing that Ollie set up a treasure hunt featuring 12 photo clues which led Jorgie to the big proposal in a lakeside chalet, Jorgie spoke about just how emotional that moment was.

"Suddenly Ollie was on one knee clutching an open box. I couldn't believe what was happening," she said. "I started crying and so did Ollie. He was so emotional he couldn't get his words out, so we hugged, he put the ring on my finger and then he asked me to marry him. Of course, I said yes!"

Jorgie went on to explain just how much her relationship with Ollie means to her, saying that she had previously "never found the right guy or trusted that a man would want to be with me forever".

"I genuinely feel now like all my past relationships were a learning experience in how to find The One," she said. "When Ollie got on one knee, I just thought, 'Oh my god, you've said you love me and you mean it'.

"Now we want to be together forever – one of those elderly couples on a bench, years later still hopelessly in love."

The happy engagement news came after the couple received the devastating news that they had lost the quadruplets that they were expecting at 14 weeks. Jorgie said that she hopes that by being open about their miscarriage, she and Ollie will be able to help others going through the same thing.

"We knew the risks of a multiple pregnancy, but it was impossible not to look forward and plan the future," she said. "I had imagined myself being a mum of four and I loved the idea.

"I hope that simply by speaking about the miscarriage I can help other women going through the same thing and perhaps that will be of some comfort, to realise they're not alone."

Hollyoaks airs new episodes from Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look screenings at 7pm on E4. Selected omnibus episodes are available via Amazon Prime Video.
