'I'm A Celebrity' 2022: Fourth campmate is voted out of the jungle

Boy George has said he is pleased to have confronted Matt Hancock in the jungle, but said the former health secretary, "is just a person".

The 61-year-old singer - real name George O'Dowd - has become the fourth contestant to be voted out of I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! 2022, and admitted sharing the camp with the MP had been "challenging for all sorts of reasons".

The Karma Chameleon star said: "I'm glad I told him what I did... He was there and I thought I have to say it."

Boy George went on: "By the way - he's just a person. He's mucked in and was doing a lot to help everybody else. I can't judge him on that."

The Do You Really Want To Hurt Me singer confronted Hancock on political issues, and told him how hard it had been not to be able to visit his mother in hospital during the government imposed lockdowns of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Boy George said he was "happy to go" and was looking forward to seeing himself in a mirror and being able to wear make-up again.

He said: "I haven't looked at myself for two and a half weeks, I haven't seen myself, it's horrifying."

The singer said in order to survive in the camp he had had to let go of his celebrity persona.

He told hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly: "I had to forget who I was for the whole time I was in there. I had to let it go, it was interesting to get over it. I had no control.

O'Dowd added: "It wasn't easy, but after a while you float into it."

He said he believed there were celebrities in the camp who were not being themselves, and that he had not been impressed with the amount of b***hing that went on behind people's backs, as he likes to tell it to their face.

But Boy George admitted he was delighted with how healthy he felt, saying: "My yoga has been of the roof, my flexibility is better than it's ever been. And I'm going to keep up the diet."

He tipped rugby player Mike Tindall or footballer Jill Scott to win the show, saying: "I think [Mike] has been the most stoic, he's done the most. I think he's much wilder than he lets on. Or Jill. I love Jill she's just so gorgeous."

Tindall and Scott remain in the camp with Hancock, Hollyoaks star Owen Warner, radio DJ Chris Moyles and comedians Seann Walsh and Babatunde Aleshe.
