Yahoo News Inhumans fans DO want a season 2 – and a major change
Marvel's Inhumans did not get off to a good start –and it never really picked up after that either.
After a disappointing IMAX premiere and a pretty disappointing finale too, Marvel fans weren't exactly holding out much hope for Inhumans to make a triumphant return with a second season, especially after Agents of SHIELD star Ming-Na Wen might have confirmed it had already been cancelled.
But there is at least one fan (and 2,399 supporters, at the time of writing) who's willing to give the show another shot, as an official petition calling for ABC to renew the series has been launched online.
They have just one request: bring in a new showrunner.
"Once gone, these characters will never EVER return and that seems to me like such a waste," the petition says.
"Instead, they should give the show another chance, maybe with a shorter run with a higher budget and maybe with a NEW SHOWRUNNER as some of the people who hated Iron Fist and Scott Buck just transferred that hate for him (maybe unconsciously) on this show as well and for the fact that he may, INDEED, not be the right person to handle the Inhuman mythos."
While the petition acknowledges that the show did have its problems, it also argues that it had a "decent story" and the actors gave "noteworthy" performances, and suggests that many people stopped giving it a chance after the second episode.
It also points out that not many people liked Marvel's Agents of SHIELD after its first season, but that show has gone on to become one of the best comic book shows around.
"All I'm saying is we deserve a proper Inhumans show, which the first season was definitely not," the petition concludes.
"Even Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. did justice to Inhumans and surely, ABC needs to only give home to Inhumans for a year and then it can move on to the Disney streaming site in 2019."
The good news is Scott Buck has previously shared that he does have a plan for a second (and even third) season of the show. As for the bad news? Well, if it does get renewed, it looks like fans don't want to see Buck at the helm.
Earlier this month, ABC president Channing Dungey revealed that they hadn't made any official decisions on Inhumans' future just yet, so we're in for a bit of a wait to find out what the verdict is.
