'The Masked Dancer' has been commissioned for a second series.

ITV has confirmed the 'Masked Singer' spin-off will be back on screens for another run with Joel Dommett back as the host alongside judges Oti Mabuse, Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan.

Katie Rawcliffe, ITV's head of entertainment, said: "It was great. And great casting: Craig Revel Horwood, Zoe Ball - you don't get people like that to take part in shows like this very often.

"So to do that and have that as a success was great, and to have Oti join the panel - another stellar detective.

"And so it is also great to be saying we're going to be doing that again later this year."

The show features 12 celebrities hiding their identities behind wacky masks - such as Squirrel (Bonnie Langford) and Carwash (Louis Smith) - and dancing as the judges try to figure out who they really are.

Before the show returns, the new series of 'The Masked Singer' is set to launch on New Year's Day (01.01.22), and ITV's Director of TV, Kevin Lygo, has revealed how they land such a strong lineup.

As quoted by The Sun newspaper's Biz TV column, he said: "Often you're persuading people to join certain shows but for this they're queuing up."

Fans will be delighted 'The Masked Dancer' is coming back, particularly after presenter Joel admitted in September he was unsure if another series was on the cards.

He said at the time: "Fingers crossed it comes back.

"It's a privilege to be a part of a situation where it doesn't matter too much if it doesn't come back because 'The Masked Singer' is the most important thing, really.

"It's nice to have that extra show in the middle of the year so we'll see whether they both happen or just one of them happens."
