A new celebrity panel show is heading to ITV in the very near future, and it's different because, well, none of the celebs will actually appear on the show themselves.

To fill that wholesome game show-shaped gap in your life, ITV is set to usher in a brand new series called The Imitation Game fronted by the not-at-all Pointless Alexander Armstrong.

According to Radio Times, The Imitation Game will feature two panels of illustrious impressionists as they face-off against each other to make the best impression.

Quite literally.

Rory Bremner and Debra Stephenson (who you may also remember from Coronation Street) will act as team captains, with guests set to include Alistair McGowan – natch – Jan Ravens, Jon Culshaw, Ronni Ancona, Anil Desai and Britain's Got Talent's Jess Robinson.

Proving that ITV's new venture will not only be entertaining, but great value for money too, team captain Rory Bremner said: "How do you get over 50 characters for the price of 4?

"Well, you do a panel show with impressionists. There are some brilliant mimics out there and bringing them together to perform challenges will be great fun."

The Imitation Game is not to be confused with Alistair McGowan's other new impressions show, Re-Dub!, which will air on Sky One.

Last month it was announced that McGowan would be fronting a new topical satire a ridiculous 14 (!) years after his BAFTA-winning BBC series The Big Impression ended.

Re-Dub! will essentially do as you'd expect, and will feature established impressionists and new mimics as they re-voice (or re-dub) a range of clips from the news.
