James Arthur reckons he ‘changed the game’ of X Factor

James Arthur believes his comeback could be used as a success story to inspire future X Factor contestants and winners.

In fact, James believes that he has changed the face of X Factor winners for good.

Speaking to the Daily Star about Syco’s decision to give his contract a second chance, the 28 year old said:

“I changed the game. I wanted that, coming back to X Factor and Syco; maybe they’ll recognise what I did in terms of how contestants approach the process of being on the X Factor now. You can do things your own way.”

When asked why he chose to re-sign with Syco, he added: “Because I’m a sucker for the story. I mean, what a compliment. They notoriously let people go, so to ask me back, I would’ve been a fool to say no.

“It’s a bit of a fairytale, a 360, full-circle thing. I do believe in loyalty, too - loyalty is the key to life. I came from The X Factor , I can never forget that, otherwise I’ll get some weird karma.”

James famously lost his original contract with Syco after being blighted with personal problems and depression which led to irrational outbursts and bad behavior.

He has since sought help for his problems is charted at number one with his comeback single Say You Won’t Let Go.

James is also now an ambassador for mental health charity, SANE, following his experiences.
