Jamie Lee Curtis reacts to first ever Oscar nomination with tribute to famous parents

Jamie Lee Curtis has shared her reaction to receiving her first ever Oscar nomination.

The actress, 64, has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film Everything Everywhere All at Once at the Academy Awards, which takes place Sunday March 13.

Curtis gave tribute to her famous acting parents, Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, as she posted a black-and-white photo of them on Instagram, shortly after learning the news.

She wrote: “It was never even in my wildest dream box. I have always felt very much like an outsider looking in and yet always so grateful for any and all opportunities I have had.

“Being a part of this beautiful movie, which just received so many acknowledgments for our talented, motley crew of artists, is the highlight of my professional life.

“As this is a movie about a family of immigrants and their struggles through life, immediately I’m thinking of my parents, children of immigrants from Hungary and Denmark, whose families came here and sacrificed for their children to achieve their dreams.”

Curtis continued: “I can only imagine what it would feel like for them and their parents to hear that their daughter/granddaughter was nominated this morning for an Oscar.

“I am stunned and humbled and excited for our little movie that could and did and based on today’s nominations, continues to do and do and do. @everythingeverywheremovie @a24”.

The Hollywood alum proceeded to post a series of photos of her sporting a shocked reaction whilst watching the Oscar nominations be read out live in the early morning.

Curtis captioned them: “THIS IS WHAT SURPRISE LOOKS LIKE! One of my oldest besties @debopp texted me at 5:15 that she was sitting in front of my house and did I want company watching the announcements.

“Debbie Oppenheimer came in and sat with me as I had sat with her the day she was heading toward the Oscar ceremony, the year she won. We held hands. I didn’t even realize she took pictures.

“No filters. No fakery. Just the truth of a moment of joy Captured by a friend. Hey @everythingeverywheremovie we went to 11!”

The figure is a reference to the 11 Oscar nominations the film received altogether. They included Michelle Yeoh being nominated for Best Actress, Ke Huy Quan Actor for Best Actor in a Supporting Role and Stephanie Hsu for Best Supporting Actress.
