Jamiroquai star Jay Kay has assured fans he wasn’t at the Capitol after people joked he was among the rioters.

As supporters of Donald Trump broke into the Senate Chambers to prevent Joe Biden’s presidency from being certified, photos of the rioters wearing headgear similar to JK circulated online.

Amid the chaos, “Jamiroquai” began trending on Twitter, with many creating memes placing the singer among the action.

The singer addressed the attention in a new video he posted on Twitter that he captioned with: “Good Morning Washington, loving the headgear, but not sure that's my crowd. Stay safe everyone.”

Adopting an American accent in the clip, the English singer can be heard saying: “Good morning, world. Now, some of you may be thinking you saw me in Washington last night, but I’m afraid I wasn’t with all those freaks.”

As the incident took place, Trump posted a video calling rioters “very special” while also repeating his false claim that he won the election.

He was later temporarily suspended from Twitter and Facebook for breaking violations, with celebrities urging the social media sites to ban him permanently.

The riots left four people dead, including a 35-year-old woman named Ashli Babbitt who was shot by a plain-clothed police officer.
