Jane McDonald has opened up about her grief following the death of her fiancé Eddie Rothe last year.

The 59-year-old singer and ‘Loose Women’ star was left devastated following the death of her long-term partner Eddie after a battle with lung cancer and she moved her best friend, Sue Ravey, because she was in a "bad way".

Speaking on Kaye Adams' 'How To Be 60' podcast, Jane said: "You know, when you're on your own, there's, there's always that the wee small hours in the morning where everything seems a lot worse than it actually is.

"And if I wake up and I'm in a bad way, I know that Sue's just down the hall a bit. And I can get up and say can you have a cup of tea with me? She'll probably kill me if I do that.

"But you know, sometimes it's just knowing that someone else in the house and we've both got that now.

"I think that's part of grief as well is that you go through the normal grief and the terrible, terrible time and then you grieve the life that you thought you were going to have.

"When he died, he took our future. So I think that is, I've got to have a different life now. And that's taken a bit of adjusting to, but I'll get there. Because that's what do, we get there."

Jane and Eddie – who was a member of the 60s band The Searchers – first started dating in 1980 when Jane was 17, but parted ways before Jane went on to marry her first husband Paul from 1986 to 1987.

She later tied the knot with Hendrik Brixen, her former manager, in 1998 before their divorce in 2002, and then in 2008 she reunited with her first love Eddie, whom she has been with ever since.
