Jarvis Cocker and Bez to go head-to-head in special Bargain Hunt for BBC Music Day

Jarvis Cocker will appear on a special edition of Bargain Hunt against Happy Mondays singer Bez.

The music stars will take part in the one-off show as part of BBC Music Day this September, for which the broadcaster has announced a range of special programmes, performances and events.

Cocker will be joined by bandmate Candida Doyle in his quest to find low-priced items to sell on at auction while Bez will be accompanied by Rowetta Idah.

A promo photo for the episode is true to Cocker’s personality as he refused to wear a blue branded polo, instead opting for a suit.

The programme will air in the build up to the fourth BBC Music Day being held later this year and isn’t the only special to draw attention to the event.

There will be a special episode of quiz show Pointless Celebrities featuring BBC radio presenters and musicians including Lianne La Havas, Clara Amfo, Ella Eyre, Lesley Garrett and Amy McDonald.

Gareth Malone will host an All Star Music Quiz where he will test the musical ability by getting contestants to play the answers they give.

Also as part of celebrations, Golden superstar Kylie Minogue will be heard across the nation in pre-recorded announcements at UK rail stations while flash mob choirs will sing at 40 different stations.

BBC Music Day takes place on Friday 28 September.
