Jeffery Self & Gabrielle Ryan Spring For ‘Drop’, Christopher Landon’s Blumhouse Platinum Dunes Universal Thriller

EXCLUSIVE: Jeffery Self (Search PartyThe Horror of Dolores Roach) and Gabrielle Ryan (Power Book IV: ForceBonding) have boarded Christopher Landon’s upcoming fast-paced thriller, Drop, from Blumhouse, Platinum Dunes and Universal Pictures.

The duo join the previously announced cast including Meghann Fahy and Brandon Sklenar.

Drop is written by Jillian Jacobs & Chris Roach. Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller are producers. Ron Lynch and Sam Lerner are EPs. Drop is a Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse production for Universal.

Self is known for his multiseason recurring role as Marc –Elliott’s on-again-off-again boyfriend– on the Max comedy series, Search Party. Last year, he recurred on the Blumhouse for Amazon series The Horror of Dolores Roach. Recently, he appeared in supporting roles in the Focus Features dramatic feature Spoiler Alert, directed by Michael Showalter and starring Jim Parsons, as well as the romantic comedy Mack & Rita starring Diane Keaton.

On the literary front, Self recently wrote on staff of the Netflix animated series Drainland, currently in development from the Big Mouth producers, Brutus Pink. He served as a writer and producer on multiple seasons of Funny or Die’s Billy On The Street. He is the author of Straight People: A Spotter’s Guide to the Fascinating World of Heterosexuals, 50 Shades of Gay, Drag Teen, and A Very, Very Bad Thing, a young adult novel published by Scholastic. In 2021, Self sold his pilot Bunny And Clyde (co-created with writing partner Cole Escola) to Max. He co-hosts a scripted podcast Breakfast Buffet with Escola, and is the author of an upcoming collection of essays to be published by HarperCollins.

Ryan is best known for her breakout role of Gloria on the Starz hit series Power Book IV: Force from Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson & Courtney A Kemp. She also earned rave reviews for her comedic portrayal of Portia on the Emmy Nominated Netflix Series Bonding created by Rightor Doyle. Ryan also recurred on J.H Wyman’s NBC sci-fi drama Debris from Legendary Productions.

Landon is a Blumhouse vet having helmed the Happy Death Day franchise, Freaky, and Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones.
