Joel Dommett: My wife stopped me from turning into an horrific person

Joel Dommett says his wife Hannah Cooper prevented him from turning into an “horrific person”.

The 'Masked Singer’ presenter believes he has been able to remain levelheaded amid his rise to fame thanks to the 31-year-old model, who he fell in love with “at the perfect time”.

The 37-year-old comedian told The Sun newspaper: “Hannah is really important for me. I met her at the perfect time.

“I feel if I didn’t meet her when I did I probably wouldn’t be where I am right now and if I was here I would probably be a horrific human being.

“She keeps me grounded and happy. Without sounding all mushy, you know you have met the one when they make you a better person and Hannah definitely makes me a better person."

Joel met Hannah via Instagram in 2016 - just after his stint on ITV reality show ‘I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!’ - and has told how the pair engaged in some feline flirting before their 2019 Mykonos nuptials, which featured ‘Love Island’ narrator Iain Stirling as the officiant.

He previously said: “We met on Instagram after I came out of 'I’m A Celeb'. She sent me a cat emoji with the heart eyes.

“That is the modern equivalent of the old phrase, 'You had me at hello,’ now it’s, ‘You had me at cat emoji’.

“She hadn’t watched the show but saw me doing an interview on 'This Morning' and sent me a message.

“It’s mad coming out of the jungle. I went from 11,000 followers to 350,000.

“I remember going through the direct messages, not knowing if I was meant to read them all.

“She always jokes that she was just at the top of the pile. I clicked on hers. We started chatting and I was blown away by how funny she was.

“We had our first date a few days later. She didn’t stop talking.”
