John Lydon calls Danny Boyle an 'a**hole' on This Morning

John Lydon has once again hit out at Danny Boyle over the film director's new TV series about the Sex Pistols.

Appearing on This Morning, Lydon launched an attack on Boyle after being asked about Pistol by Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond.

Hammond read out a quote from Boyle about Lydon's opposition to the show: "Danny Boyle has previously said, 'I love Lydon for what he does and I don't want him to like it. I think that he's he has an absolute right. Why would you change the habit of a lifetime?' That's Danny Boyle."

The former Sex Pistols frontman simply replied 'you a**hole'.

The presenters quickly apologised for Lydon's remark.

During the interview, Lydon also called the show a 'pile of nonsense'. He added that he would have been on board with the show if he was given more information about it and told about it at an earlier date.

Pistol premieres on Disney+ on 31 May and follows the Sex Pistols' rise to stardom in the mid-1970s.

The show has been made without Lydon's consent but the other remaining living band members Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock support the series.

Lydon sued his former bandmates in an attempt to stop the show using the group's music but a court ruled against him.

Pistol features newcomer Anson Boon as Lydon, Toby Wallace as Steve Jones, Louis Partridge as Sid Vicious, Jacob Slater as Paul Cook and Christian Lees as Glen Matlock.

Also appearing in the show is Maisie Williams as Pamela Rooke, Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Malcolm McLaren, Talulah Riley as Vivienne Westwood and Dylan Llewelyn as Wally Nightingale.

Boyle, who is best known for directing Trainspotting and Slumdog Millionaire, has directed all six episodes of the series which has been written by Craig Pearce.

The Sex Pistols have previously been depicted in Sid and Nancy which focussed on the band's guitarist Sid Vicious and his relationship with Nancy Spungen.

Lydon also criticised that film for not involving him in the production. Sid and Nancy saw Gary Oldman play Vicious with Andrew Schofield portraying Lydon.
