From Digital Spy

Never mind Murder on the Orient Express, the Johnny Vegas-led comedy version that we have always wanted is coming to TV screens.

The actor has been announced as part of the cast for Gold's Agatha Christie spoof Murder on the Blackpool Express alongside Car Share's Sian Gibson.

The one-off feature-length show will see Vegas play Terry, a Blackpool coach driver who is caught up in a conspiracy alongside tour guide Gemma (Gibson) as passengers mysteriously die one-by-one.

The pair are backed-up by a pretty stellar cast, including the likes of Nigel Havers, Una Stubbs, Griff Rhys Jones, Nina Wadia, Sheila Reid, Kevin Eldon, Mark Heap, Kimberley Nixon, Katy Cavanagh, Matthew Cottle, Susie Blake and Javone Prince.

"If the script read through is anything to go by, this is not only going to be immense fun to film, but a real treat for comedy lovers and whodunnits alike," Vegas said. "Brilliant casting and laugh out loud writing, what's not to be excited about?"

Gibson added: "I'm so excited to be involved in a murder mystery! The script is very funny and it's such a pleasure to be working with Johnny and such a wonderful cast. Can't wait."

Murder on the Blackpool Express is written by Jason Cook (Hebburn) and directed by Simon Delaney (Cold Feet).

Filming for the special has just begun, with an air date planned for the autumn – in fact, it should coincide with the release of the Kenneth Branagh-led Murder on the Orient Express.
