The bash: A warm Sunday evening saw theatre’s great and good gather at The Royal Albert Hall for the Olivier Awards – the British stage’s answer to the Oscars.

The crowd: Amongst the West End darlings du jour – Eddie Redmayne and Jessie Buckley of Cabaret, Lily Allen of 2:22 A Ghost Story and Sheila Atim of Constellations – came some more unexpected faces. Stacey Dooley arrived with her boyfriend and Strictly Come Dancing partner Kevin Clifton, while Steps star Faye Tozer made a leopard print heavy appearance.

The looks: There was only one outfit everyone was talking about: Emma Corrin in the AW22 Loewe balloon dress. Hot off creative director Jonathan Anderson’s catwalk, The Crown actor made a stark statement with a humorous, nude colour balloon print frock, complete with a plastic balloon bra worn on top and blow up black boots. Looner or loony? We are fans.

The lowdown: Eddie Redmayne looked every inch the Eton alumni in his posh-to-trot Ralph Lauren tux and cream trousers. His boarding days will have likely been on his mind as he collected the best actor in a musical award for his portrayal of Emcee – Cabaret was one of the first plays he performed in as an Etonian schoolboy. Practice makes perfect.

Meet on the Roof

The bash: A music-heavy set charged to the eleventh floor of The Standard Hotel for the spring opening of its rooftop, where weary guests topped up from Friday night with the help of margaritas on tap.

The crowd: In a sea of 300, pockets of friends squeezed into booths to take in views of the city. DJ Jords took to the decks, while models Jess Alexander and Sienna King giggled, and writer Yomi Adegoke enjoyed the unlimited sparkling vino.

The looks: Harris Reed at Chet Lo, upcoming designers who have studios at the hotel, left their sewing machines and let their locks down. Both kept it simple but chic, Reed in demerara sugar shade tailoring, while Lo rocked a white trench. Dua Lipa’s sister Rina also turned heads in an asymmetric top and olive green puffer to beat the wind – but the best dressed were the pooches who came in Prada.

The lowdown: As guests triple parked themselves with cranberry cocktails, the scent of summer was in the air. Nigerian singing sensation Tems performed to the backdrop of St Pancras, before the sun set and guests charged down for some debauchery in the hotel club Sweeties.
