Woman ticks presenting BBC weather off bucket list

Watch: Student fulfils bucket list dream of reading the weather

Laura Nuttall, a terminally ill cancer patient, has presented a broadcast of the BBC's weather update, ticking another item off her bucket list.

Nuttall appeared on BBC North West Tonight alongside regular weatherman Owain Wyn Evans and presented a segment of the report focussed on Wednesday's weather forecast.

Wyn Evans went on to call her weather presenting 'just brilliant'.

Nuttall was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2018 after going for a routine eye test and it was later found that she had eight tumours.

Doctors only gave her 12 months to live but four years later, she is still here after undergoing various treatments including surgery, chemotherapy and immunotherapy.

Nuttall recently graduated from Manchester University with a degree in politics, philosophy and economics. She was studying at university in London when initially diagnosed and later returned to her studies while undergoing chemotherapy.

Nuttall's mother has previously spoken of her perseverance to complete her degree: "Laura reaching that milestone looked impossible when she was given 12-18 months to live – it was unimaginable pain for the whole family. There have been really tough times over the last three years when she's struggled with sickness and chemo related fatigue."

Since being diagnosed with cancer, Nuttall has made strides to tick things off her bucket list including going for a pint with comedian Peter Kay.

Kay also returned to the stage to help raise money for Nuttall's treatment and did two Q&A events at the Manchester Apollo, tickets for which sold out in 30 minutes.
