Law & Order spin-off Organized Crime delivered a classic villain in Dylan McDermott's Richard Wheatley, but will the baddie return for a second season?
Law & Order: Organized Crime was confirmed for another run back in May, and now Deadline is reporting that McDermott – who originally joined the series on a one-year deal – will be back as Detective Elliot Stabler's nemesis.
It's reported that the actor has signed up for an additional eight episodes as part of Organized Crime's return, after his character was an instant hit with Law & Order fans.

McDermott's character, a businessman with connections to the mafia, was last seen in the spin-off's season one finale, after being taken into custody ahead of his trial for the murder of Stabler's wife, Kathy.
News of Richard Wheatley's involvement in season two's plot comes after Law & Order creator Dick Wolf revealed the series' second outing will be made up of three eight-episode arcs.
"The first third of the season is The Godfather. The second third is American Gangster. And the last third is Scarface," he explained.
"And these villains are going to be really bad guys that give [Stabler] a constant source of energy, outrage, belief in justice and a different way of pursuing criminals than we've had before."
Law & Order: SVU airs Thursdays on NBC in the US. The show airs on Sky Witness in the UK, with select episodes available on NOW.
