Lee Mead shaves off trademark curls as he undergoes hair transplant

The singer and actor said he was feeling 'sore' but was so pleased to have had the procedure

Lee Mead has shaved off his trademark curls to undergo a hair transplant.

The singer, 41, shared videos on Instagram showing him looking unrecognisable with a bald head, as he quipped: "Hair today gone tomorrow."

Opening up in one clip, he said he had been hiding his receding hairline and that he felt "more confident already" after having the procedure done in Istanbul.

One video showed Mead sat in a hair-dresser's chair smiling nervously at the camera, with his head covered in black pen to mark out the area for the transplant.

A second video showed him at the airport preparing to jet home afterwards.

"I've got a very different look to when I left London airport," he said.

"I'm a bit nervous about coming back to the UK, seeing friends and family and just being out and about with this new look, because it's a completely different look for me."

The star - who has a daughter with his ex Denise Van Outen - said he was a bit "sore" but added: "I am so pleased I had it done."

"I had a good head of hair but I hid my receding areas quite well," he went on.

"I could have left it the next two or three years and as I have always said, it's an individual, it's a personal thing isn't it.

The Holby City actor said that he was documenting the whole thing on video because he wanted to "feel confident and own it".
