Leonardo DiCaprio's dating history controversy explained

Leonardo DiCaprio's relationship status has been a source of fascination for fans for decade.

This is partly because he has a near-constant entourage of models, but mainly because it seems he has a "cut-off age" for girlfriends.

While the 48-year-old Oscar winner gets older, the internet has noticed his choice in girlfriend seem to remain the same age: that is 25, when they get the boot.

He was even the butt of Kenan Thompson's joke at the 2022 Emmys because of it.

Following rumours DiCaprio is now dating 19-year-old model Eden Polani — rumours that have been denied by sources — we look back at how accurate this running theme actually is.

Leonardo DiCaprio's dating history in 11 points

Gisele Bündchen (1999-2005): Model Gisele was DiCaprio's first major public relationship, lasting five years. He was 24 and she was 18 when they first got together. They split when Gisele started focusing on a healthy lifestyle. She later married NFL star Tom Brady from 2009 to 2022.

Bar Refaeli (2005-2011): Refaeli was 20 when she first dated DiCaprio, aged 30. Their romance was on/off. Splitting in 2009 for six months, they reunited after Rafaeli took time to "grow up" (as she told British Vogue). A year later, when she was 25, they called it quits for good.

Blake Lively (2011): Lively, 23, was swept up in a short-lived romance with 35-year-old DiCaprio. How they met is up for debate — some sources stating it was Cannes Film Festival, others claim it was a Great Gatsby audition.

They broke up by October, and she married Ryan Reynolds.

Erin Heatherton (2012): Victoria's Secret model Heatherton, 22, went public with DiCaprio, 36, in 2012, but they'd split by the end of the year. Their break-up was blamed on DiCaprio's demanding acting schedule keeping them apart.

Kat Torres (2013): Model Kat Torres, 24, dated DiCaprio briefly, and confirmed the news herself in October. She told Brazilian newspaper Extra: "We have a pact that nothing can ever be said about our relationship." DiCaprio's team denied their romance a week later. Awks.

Toni Garrn (2013-2014 & 2017): Garrn was 20 when she first dated DiCaprio, then 38. Their relationship lasted 18 months before ending in December 2014, with Garrn reportedly annoyed at him "clubbing with 20 supermodels". They reunited in 2017 (per The Sun), but didn't last.

Kelly Rohrbach (2015): Rohrbach and DiCaprio's relationship was short-lived from Summer 2015 to the end of the year. Their split was blamed on his hectic schedule once again, considering he was doing the awards circuit for Oscar-winning The Revenant at the time.

Nina Agdal (2016-2017): Model Agdal had a short-lived romance with DiCaprio – starting when she was 24. During that time they travelled the world together, being spotted in Ibiza and The Bahamas. However, less than a year later they split "amicably", shortly after she turned 25.

Camila Morrone (2017-2022): DiCaprio dated the Daisy Jones And The Six star for five years, starting when she was 20 years old and he was 43.

She even joined him at the 2020 Oscars and defended their 23-year age gap. They split in mid-2022, two months after her 25th birthday.

Gigi Hadid (2022-2023): Hadid and DiCaprio enjoyed a string of dinners together in late 2022 to early 2023, with rumours they were dating quickly following.

She also broke the mold as a 27-year-old dating the now 48-year-old star. However, neither confirmed the reports.

Eden Polani (2023): Polani, 19, is the latest model attached to DiCaprio. After being spotted at a music festival and dinner event with him, she has since deleted Instagram, and flown home to her native Israel.

Reps have denied they're dating.
