Lucifer bosses admit fan support is "crucial" for season 5 renewal
Lucifer fans were delighted when Netflix brought the show back from the dead for a fourth season, though the prospect of a fifth still remains up in the air.
The showrunners have now given us an update on where things stand, revealing that they'll know if it's been renewed very soon – though admitted fan support will be crucial in determining Netflix's decision.
"They'll hopefully let us know within a month [by June 8]," Ildy Modrovich told TVLine. "That tends to be how they do things with first-season shows, that they will hopefully let everyone know within a month. The bingeing and all the fan support helps with that."
Joe Henderson added: "To that point, the fan support is super-important, and in particular the [first] month is going to be crucial towards whether or not we get a Season 5, because they are paying attention."
Henderson also admitted that the fan support had been "amazing" and "everything you could ask for".
Star Lauren German, who plays Chloe Decker, recently ignited hopes for a fifth season in a teasy tweet last week, and Henderson and Modrovich have recently spoken about their ideas for a fifth season should it get renewed.
"We did spend some time digging into what we think can be season 5," Henderson said. "We even have the first scene [of season 5], which is one of my favourite things we’ve ever come up with [laughs]."
Modrovich added: "We do have an idea. It's an idea that when it came up in the room, we went, 'Oh god, that’s crazy.' Then the more we talked about it, the more we went, 'and brilliant.'"
Lucifer season 4 is available to watch now on Netflix.
