Simon Cowell has hinted at the possibility of a new X Factor-style show in the future, in an appearance on BBC’s The One Show.

The music mogul appeared on the sofa alongside singer-songwriter Lucy Spraggan to promote her new single, Balance.

Asked if there would be “a new vehicle to refeed the pop engine”, the pair shared a knowing look and a smile.

“When we started the show in the first place, it was honestly with the feeling that people need a platform,” Cowell said.

“It’s very difficult to get a record deal. It still is today. It’s really, really hard. I would argue it’s harder today to get your music noticed than it was 10 or 15 years ago.

“So, the show did what it intended to do, which was to help people who couldn’t get a record deal for whatever reason… and in a lot of cases, thank God, it did launch careers.”

Who is Lucy Spraggan?

Lucy Honour Ruby Spraggan is an English singer-songwriter, who was born in July 1991, making her 30 years old.

In 2012, she auditioned for the X Factor, performing her own composition, Last Night. However, she had to quit due to illness, finishing in ninth place.

After her appearance on the show, she signed a recording contract with Colombia Records. Spraggan was the first contestant in history to score a Top 40 single and album before the live shows aired, with her album Top Room at the Zoo.

On October 7, 2013, her debut album, Join the Club, was released, and it reached number seven on the UK Albums Chart. Since then, she’s released four more studio albums, with Choices most recently released, on February 26, 2021.

Spraggan’s seventh studio album Balance will be released in April 2023, and her autobiography Process will be released in July 2023.

Is Lucy Spraggan married?

In 2019, it was revealed that Lucy Spraggan had split from her wife Georgina Gordon.

She took to Instagram to announce the break up three years after they got married, and six years after they began their relationship.

“It’s with sadness to let you know that after nearly six years of joy, fun and true love, Georgina and I have decided to part ways,” she wrote.

“We have shared the most amazing times and life together, and we are truly grateful for knowing love at its full capacity.

“We will continue on our paths as ultimate friends, and dog Mums, united by the bond and memories we will always have.

“We are eternally thankful for the support you have offered to us; in this time of hardship we appreciate space and time to deal with the change.”
