Line of Duty is leading the way right now, but there's another BBC One police drama coming soon: The Responder.

From the mind of ex-police officer Tony Schumacher, The Responder follows Martin Freeman's "unconventional" officer Chris as he takes on rookie partner Rachel, to be played by Adelayo Adedayo.

In quite the transformation, new on-set photos from the thriller reveal Martin Freeman suited and booted in uniform, along with what looks like a new buzz cut.

A separate photo taken during filming, which is currently underway in Liverpool, shows Martin and co-star Adedayo sitting tight in a police car.

Dubbed a "writer's dream come true", The Responder also stars the likes of The Witcher's MyAnna Buring, Tin Star's Ian Hart and Kerrie Hayes, Luther star Warren Brown, and Afterlife's David Bradley.

The official synopsis for the series reads: "The Responder follows Chris, a crisis-stricken, morally compromised, unconventional urgent response officer tackling a series of night shifts on the beat in Liverpool.

"Whilst trying to keep his head above water both personally and professionally, Chris is forced to take on a new rookie partner Rachel. Both soon discover that survival in this high-pressure, relentless, night-time world will depend on them either helping or destroying each other."

Watch out, AC-12. There's a new police procedural in town.

The Responder will air on BBC One.
