Martin Landau dead: Hollywood pays tribute to Oscar-winning star of Ed Wood

Hollywood has paid tribute to Martin Landau who passed away at the age of 89.

The American actor was best known for his role in the television series Mission: Impossible - in which he played versatile covert-operations agent Rollin Hand - as well as his Oscar-winning portrayal of Bela Lugosi in 1994 Tim Burton film Ed Wood.

He also starred in Woody Allen film Crimes and Misdemeanours (1989).

Following the news, figures from Hollywood paid tribute to the actor on social media.

Another Hollywood legend - horror filmmaker George A Romero - passed away yesterday (16 July) at the age of 77 sparking tributes from the world of entertainment. Both Romero and Landau share a credit - Alfred Hitchcock classic North by Northwest (1959) in which the latter starred and Romero worked as a production assistant in the early stages of his career.
