The celebrity winner of the US version of The Masked Singer has been revealed.

This year’s series was able to continue after keeping to Covid-19 safety regulations, and it came to a dramatic end on Wednesday (16 December).

Finishing in third place on the US show’s fourth season was Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter.

Meanwhile, “I Need a Dollar” singer Aloe Blacc came second.

This left it to LeAnn Rimes to win the show, taking home the Golden Mask Trophy.

Rimes had been performing as the character The Sun all season and, despite some guessing her identity early on, viewers were still moved to see the singer back in the limelight.

The Grammy Award-winner’s famous songs include “How Do I Live” and “Can’t Fight the Moonlight”, which featured on the soundtrack of 2000 film Coyote Ugly.

Speaking about her win on Twitter, Rimes wrote: "BUSTED Rimes. The secret’s out and I can’t wait to talk to you about my time as #TheSun on @MaskedSingerFOX.

“Sending ALL my LovE to the INCREDIBLE team for making this such a fun, creative and most importantly safe experience for everyone involved #cantfightthesunlight.”

Earlier this year, Hollywood actor Mickey Rourke was unveiled as a contestant on the reality show.

The UK version of the show is expected to return in early 2021.
