The Masked Singer US has finally revealed the celebrity identity behind the Kitty costume – and we'll be pawsitively impressed if you managed to guess this one correctly.

The final five was whittled down to four in yesterday's (May 6) episode, after Kitty's nine lives were used up. Judges guessed everyone from Frozen's Kristen Bell to Glee's Lea Michele, so imagine their surprise when Jackie Evancho was unmasked.

Finding national fame at the tender age of 10, Jackie Evancho is a classically-trained singer who was crowned runner-up of the fifth season of America's Got Talent. She even performed at President Trump's inauguration in 2017.

Known by most as a young opera star, Jackie said The Masked Singer was a way of showing a "different side" to her. "I have been stuck in this stereotype of a 10-year-old girl, since I was 10 years old," she told host Nick Cannon.

"And now I'm almost 20, and I'm glad that this experience has given me the chance to kind of break out of that."

In her exit interview, Jackie bid an emotional farewell to the Kitty costume, admitting that the mask had allowed her to channel her inner-diva. "The minute I put that Kitty mask on, it was just instant diva," she explained.

"Not because I'm a diva, but because I could become the character. I wouldn't be judged on what I did on that stage."

With only Frog, Rhino, Night Angel, and Turtle remaining in the competition, we're just glad that a fourth season is now official.

The Masked Singer US continues on May 13 at 8pm on Fox. Its UK equivalent airs on ITV.
