Call Me Kat, the sitcom from Mayim Bialik, paid tribute to the late Leslie Jordan with a surprise guest.

The actor, who played Phil on the show, passed away in October following a car crash, with his character being given a happy conclusion in the 10th episode of the third season, which aired on Thursday (January 5).

The winter premiere saw the cast flick through photos of Phil’s and Jalen’s (John Griffin) off-screen wedding, with the couple being written out of the show as they elected to stay in Tahiti.

The cast then broke the fourth wall, with lead star Bialik saying they were still “mourning” Jordan but wanted to give him a “happy ending,” adding that they will “miss him very much” before segueing into a sequence from surprise guest, Dolly Parton.

The country singer, who was a close friend of the late actor, performed a verse of ‘Where the Soul Never Dies’ in a pre-filmed segment, before paying tribute to the actor herself.

“I know usually at a memorial, people talk about somebody. Well, I’m going to talk to you,” she said (via Pink News). “Because there is that place on the other side, and I’m certainly going to see you there, little brother.

“You left a lot of people here with a lot of precious memories. Everybody loved you, but I doubt many of them loved you more than I did,” she continued. “I just want you to know that we all love you, we all miss you, and I bet you’re having a big laugh over all of us being sad and sorrowful. And I know that would be the last thing you would want us to be.

“You made us happy while you were here, and we’re happy that you’re at peace. I just want you to know that I will always love you. Goodbye, my sweet Leslie,” she said, before singing a line from her iconic song, ‘I Will Always Love You’.

The third season of Call Me Kat will conclude on Thursday (January 12); the show, which is based on British sitcom Miranda, is yet to be renewed for a fourth season.
