Mel Giedroyc is fronting a new podcast to celebrate telly.

The ex ‘Great British Bake Off’ host will discuss a whole host of celebrities - including Sanjeev Bhaskar, Hugh Dennis and Kirstie Allsopp - on the new podcast, ‘My TV Years’, launching next week and produced by the magazine TV Choice.

The 53-year-old comedian told The Daily Star: “Telly plays such a central role in all our lives and that’s why I’m going to be discussing all of this, from reminiscing about old favourites to looking at current TV obsessions, with some of the nation’s favourite TV stars as they tell me about their TV years.”

Mel - who is married to Ben Morris, a TV director with whom she has two daughters Florence and Vita - is best known for her comedy partnership with fellow funny lady Sue Perkins, 52, with whom she fronted the culinary completion show from 2010 until 2016.

In 2020, the pair shared how they "resigned" - along with Mary Berry - from the hit TV show when it moved from BBC to Channel 4, branding it as "unkind."

Sue said: “We resigned, basically because it was not a kind show. They were pointing cameras in the bakers’ faces and making them cry and saying, ‘Tell us about your dead gran.’ So we had very stiff words about how we wanted to proceed. I think we can say that, now we’re out of it, can’t we?”

'My Favourite Telly Years' - in partnership with TVChoice – will be launched across streaming platforms from Wednesday 23 Feb, with a new episode released every week.
