The first images of Mood Music at the Old Vic have been released today.

Joe Penhall’s latest play looks at the dark side of the music industry, with a producer and young songwriter battling over who owns a hit song.

Ben Chaplin plays producer Bernard, having stepped in after Rhys Ifans had to drop out due to personal reasons.

Seana Kerslake, Pip Carter, Kurt Egyiawan, Jemma Redgrave and Neil Stuke make up the rest of the cast.

The production is directed by Roger Michell, who recently directed Chaplin in Nina Raine ’s Consent.

Penhall’s previous plays include Sunny Afternoon and Blue/Orange, and he also recently penned the Netflix series Mindhunter which starred Jonathan Groff.

Mood Music runs at the Old Vic until June 16. The show is part of the theatre’s bicentenary season, which also includes an adaptation of Patrick Ness’s A Monster Calls and a hip hop dance show about Sylvia Pankhurst.
