This Morning’s Alison Hammond says she may ‘die sooner’ but she has ‘fantastic life’

Alison Hammond has admitted she might “die sooner” but she has vowed to lie her life to the fullest.

The 47-year-old This Morning presenter candidly discussed how she feels about her health and she had a positive message about her approach to life.

Speaking on the What If? podcast to Lorraine Kelly and her daughter Rosie Smith, Hammond suggested she might “die a little bit sooner” but she is going to have a “fantastic life.”

During the podcast, Hammond explained she is going to eat “nice food” but was also open to the idea of making her diet a little healthier.

“We’re all going to die eventually,” Hammond said on the podcast.

“I might die a little bit sooner, but I’m going to live my life to the fullest. And if I do die sooner, I’m going to have a fantastic life. I’m going to have a wonderful life. I’m 47 now, I don’t know how long I’m going to go on for.”

She added: “We’re all going to die eventually, but I’m going to enjoy my life. I’m going to eat nice food. I’m going to try to eat a little bit healthier because sometimes my knees do hurt. So I will try my very best.”

During the candid conversation, Hammond also told Kelly and Smith about being subjected to vicious online criticism because of her weight.

However, Hammond has vowed not to let the critics get her down.

She said: “I know I’m overweight, everyone can see I’m overweight. It’s not a surprise to know I’m overweight. Why do people feel that they need to tell me something that is so blatantly obvious?

“Maybe [they should] think that I’ve probably told myself it 100 times before anyway, so I don’t need anybody to tell me that I’m overweight. Because I see myself every single day.”

It’s not the first time Hammond has documented her weight struggles.

Last month, the television star became tearful after hearing a caller speak about her daughter’s eating habits.

Hammond was comforted by her co-stars as she told viewers: “I’ve had obesity all my life. Your regulation system is out of whack. You can’t control wanting to eat. A lot of people don’t realise obesity is a disease.”

The TV star has gone from strength to strength in her TV career ever since she shot to fame when appearing on Big Brother in 2002.

One year later, she landed a position on ITV’s This Morning.

In 2021, Hammond replaced Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes when she began presenting the This Morning Friday segment alongside Dermot O’Leary.
