Charli XCX and Perfume Genius were the big winners in the world of music over the weekend.

The former released her latest effort to great acclaim — it was hastily assembled over the last few weeks during the lockdown, but sounded like a fully-formed triumph, leaning further towards her experimental pop tendencies. The latter, meanwhile, delivered a beautiful, bold interrogation of love and sex. Read our review for Charli XCX's How I'm Feeling Now here, and head here for our thoughts on Set My Heart On Fire Immediately by Perfume Genius.

However, plenty more good stuff arrived in the last few days, from live recordings to soundtracks to socially distanced cover versions.

Here's the best of the new music you might have missed.

Taylor Swift — Live From Paris

Taylor Swift released her new concert film at the weekend and, to accompany it, has dropped eight of the live tracks onto streaming services. They’re all renditions of songs from her latest album, Lover.

David Bowie — Liveandwell.com

The latest in a string of recently reissued performances given by David Bowie over the years, this album featured recordings from four 1997 shows, in New York City, Rio de Janeiro, Amsterdam and at Phoenix Festival in Long Marston. Prior to this, the release was only available to people who had been subscribed to the now defunct BowieNet.

Kamasi Washington — Becoming

LA jazz supremo Kamasi Washington scored Michelle Obama’s new Netflix documentary Becoming, and now you can listen through the whole thing. Not quite as wild as his usual output, it’s a smooth delight.

Brockhampton — M.O.B. and Twisted

They’re a prolific bunch, Brockhampton. The group are working on two new albums and until that’s finished, they’ll be releasing new music every week — and that’s just the stuff that won’t even feature on these upcoming projects. The latest two drops are M.O.B. and Twisted.

Fontaines DC — Darklands (The Jesus and Mary Chain cover)

The Irish rockers have a new album on the way and have teased it with their new single, the gloomy rush of A Hero’s Death. This cover, performed for Radio X, is their take on the Jesus and Mary Chain song Darklands, off the Scottish band’s 1987 album of the same name. It's accompanied by a socially distanced video, too.
