Margot Robbie made her highly anticipated return to Neighbours as the soap aired its last ever episode on Friday.

Before the 32-year-old actress became a two-time Oscar nominated superstar, she played Ramsay Street regular Donna Freedman from 2008–2011 where castmates affectionaly nicknamed her “Maggot”.

Following the news that Neighbours was ending after 37 years, Robbie was one of the past famous faces confirmed to be returning alongside the likes of Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Guy Pearce, Delta Goodrum, Holly Valance and Natalie Imbruglia.

While the Barbie star was unable to return to the Melborne set due to filming commitments in the US, she appeared in scenes in the episode aired on Channel 5 via a video message sending well-wishes to the character Toadie following his wedding to Melanie.

“Have an amazing wedding day Toadie, and I love you guys so much,” she beams in the clip.

“My years living on Ramsay Street were honestly some of the best of my entire life. You all stood by me.”

Other former stars who featured in the Zoom-like video included Kym Valentine, Jesse Spencer, Mark Little, Goodrum, Valance and Imbruglia.

While promoting her role in Peter Rabbit back in 2018, Robbie reflected on her transition from Australian star on Neighbours to making movies in the US.

“So many people say this, but it really is the best training ground ever. I remember saying I can walk off this set know that I will never do a job as hard as this again,” she told ABC.

“It prepared me so well, multi-camera, it’s also great working on an Australian production where there wasn’t such a hierarchy or segregation between cast and crew.”
