Neighbours star April Rose Pengilly confirms new opening titles for 2022

Neighbours star April Rose Pengilly has confirmed that the show will have a new opening credits sequence when it returns in 2022.

Taking to her Instagram Story on Monday (January 10), the Chloe Brennan actor took part in a Q&A, where she was asked by one of her followers whether the fresh titles would be released soon.

"Yes," she noted, alongside a photo of herself and performer pal Phoebe Roberts.

Then, she joked: "Ours looks like it's on a green screen but please appreciate it is NOT and that it was actually a really long annoying day with lots of travelling and faffing about.

"They even had to delete me from a scene because they couldn't get me back to the studio in time after the opening titles took so long," Pengilly concluded, teasingly.

Digital Spy has since learned that the opening titles will debut on the long-running Aussie soap next week and, while the majority of them will be updated shots, there have been some kept over from previous sequences.

Judging by Pengilly's post, it seems safe to assume that a fair amount of the new clips were captured on location across Melbourne, away from the usual backlot.

Earlier today, Neighbours revealed that it's set to jump one week forward in time following the much-hyped wedding day storm disaster that's soon to befall Roxy Willis (Zima Anderson) and Kyle Canning (Chris Milligan).

Viewers already know that someone will perish in the accident, and the future episode won't announce who the victim is immediately either, as it sees the residents of Ramsay Street gather together for a mystery memorial.

Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 6pm on Channel 5 (UK) and Mondays to Thursdays at 6.30pm on 10 Peach (Australia).
